About Dr. Lucas Luyckx

Dr. Lucas Luyckx completed his training as an orthopedic surgeon at the University of Leuven.

After his training, he further specialized in muscle-sparing hip surgery, as well as minimally invasive foot surgery.

For this, he worked in both well-known Belgian and renowned International Centers.

Regarding hip surgery, Dr. Luyckx primarily focuses on muscle-sparing techniques.

Prosthetic surgery has evolved significantly in recent years. The muscle-sparing approach ensures faster recovery. Robotics aids in more accurate placement of prosthetic components.

Dr. Luyckx implements all these new developments to achieve optimal results.

Regarding minimally invasive foot surgery, Dr. Luyckx specialized in percutaneous techniques. These new techniques enable procedures through incisions of a few millimeters. This results in less pain after the procedure, as well as faster recovery.

Dr. Luyckx is an accredited physician and has been working in the orthopedics department of AZ Jan Portaels in Vilvoorde since 2018.

Education and Qualifications

Dr. Luyckx obtained his specialization in orthopedics in 2017.

He further subspecialized in hip surgery through a fellowship with Professor Siebenrock and Dr. Tannast at Inselspital in Bern.

Furthermore, he was also part of Professor Neutzli’s team in Switzerland.

He completed his subspecialization in foot surgery after a fellowship at the AMC in Amsterdam with Professor Kerkhoffs, as well as in Switzerland, among others, with the internationally highly acclaimed Professor Hintermann.

For percutaneous foot surgery, Dr. Luyckx attended international courses and visited, among others, Dr. Andreas Töpfer.

Dr. Luyckx is a member of several professional associations, including BVOT (Belgian Association for Orthopedics and Traumatology), BHS (Belgian Hip Society), BFAS (Belgian Foot and Ankle Society), EFAS (European Foot and Ankle Society), and MIFAS (Minimal Invasive Foot and Ankle Society).
